Honey & Wildfire Herbs was created out of a personal desire to share the knowledge that I am gaining daily, but since then it has become much more than that. Since beginning writing for this blog a few individuals have come into my life and have felt a connection with what I have to say and how I have gotten to where I am.
At its core Honey & Wildfire Herbs is about herbalism, natural healing, holistic living and wellness. Further than that, it is about balance. It is a journey to become both fierce and kind, to be both soft and fiery, and to be strong and flexible. I am by no means an expert, but I have learned a lot along the way that I wish to share with this community of readers. Duality is perhaps the most satisfying and fascinating part of life. We can be both. It’s all about finding that balance and nurturing it.
About the Author
My name is Sam. I am an herbalist in training who has a passion for plants and living along with the Earth as much as possible. I have a growing interest and respect for energy and age-old healing practices. I am here because I feel like I have something to offer. Even if I was able to help one person with this platform, that would be an honor.
In October 2016, I became very sick. I was experiencing a myriad of symptoms from relentless headaches to nausea, fatigue, joint pain, and oddly, worsening food allergies. I was confident that it was Lyme Disease, but my doctors disagreed. They couldn’t find it in my blood tests so it must not exist in my body. After being bounced around between doctors and specialists, I ended up at an amazingly wonderful Rheumatologist. He listened to my long list of complaints and diagnosed me with Fibromyalgia but explained to me that he was not entirely confident in that diagnosis. I asked him what he thought of herbal medicine. Go in with a healthy amount of skepticism, he said.
I found a woman near me who was highly recommended by some people I know and I did everything she told me to, no matter how kooky it sounded. She was able to aid my body into healing itself from Lyme Disease in three months.
That experience humbled me and frankly, changed my life. At the time, I had been looking for a sign about what to do with my life. When I became sick, I was finishing up my Bachelor’s degree in English Education but I wasn’t in love with teaching. A few months after the conclusion of my treatment, it dawned on me. Herbal medicine changed my life, and with it I could enable that change for others. So I enrolled in The Herbal Academy and have been absorbing all I can ever since. It has been quite a journey and I am so grateful to be able to share it with you.
